Gabriel Kahan is a visiting researcher at Sciences Po-Paris and a PhD Candidate at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He conducts research in political sociology, development, and finance.

His current research focuses on green industrial policy. Here he is completing a dissertation project on France's turn toward "ecological planning" under the country's National Low-Carbon Strategy. Previously, he has written on conditionalities affecting multinational emitters and the derisking of energy transitions. Alongside this work, he conducts research on "financial democracy" — the project of broadening participation in financial systems to ensure the provision of public goods. He regularly presents this work at international conferences and workshops, and has taught courses in political economy, sociology, and research methods.

In addition, he collaborates with think tanks across the US and EU to translate research into policy insights. He has served on expert committees, directed databases, and compiled dossiers on green industrial strategy.
